Gear up for gardening at Sooke’s 9th annual Seedy Saturday.

Sooke Region Food CHI is delighted to again present its annual kick-off to a new growing season in downtown Sooke. Admission by donation (recommended $5).

As ever, the day will showcase a range of seed and plant vendors offering all you need for the year ahead. Also back this year will be workshops, educational displays, the popular Kids’ Zone and the seed exchange table (where you can do your part in promoting biodiversity in the Sooke Region).

Expect plenty of opportunities to meet local wild harvesters and food artisans in addition to chance encounters with friends and neighbours at one of the winter season’s best social minglers.

The Sooke Fall Fair Society will be providing a delicious and healthy lunch downstairs throughout the day alongside its popular marketplace.

Seedy Saturday is an annual celebration of local seeds and foods, gardening, and education that supports a healthy, strong community.

Come on by to meet local seed growers, farmers, community gardeners, or need some new local seeds for your garden this year. This is a family and kid friendly event where we will have lots to do for all ages!

Admission by donation.

Swap your Seeds and Seedlings! Please bring them labelled as best you can. We’ll have some bags and envelopes on hand to carry home your goodies.

This is the heart of Seedy Saturday and is an amazing way to learn about locally adapted, unique plants.

Highlights of this great day will include over 25 vendors providing seeds, plants, starts, veggies and locally handmade products as well as a kid’s zone, delicious food and great door prizes!!

Entrance is $2 suggested donation, and children under twelve are free. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out during the day of the event and will also be accepting plant donations on March 3rd . Looking for Vendors that might be interested on this great event as well. This year is an Special one because we have a new vision , and we are trying our best to focus on our future. As a community this is a great event to all come togueter and share our love and knowledge for seeds. The one that starts it all.
We will have two great live guest speakers as well from 9:15-9:45 and from 10:00-10:45 before we open our doors to our sale.

Spring is on it’s way and what better way to get garden inspired than by attending Quadra’s 3rd annual seed swap, a place to trade heirloom and open pollinated seeds. Everyone is welcome whether you are already a seed saver or want to start collecting your own and sharing.
Everyone is welcome! Admission by donation ($5 suggested)
We will also be having a raffle for some really wonderful gardening goodies.
If you are bringing seeds:

They should be in an envelope clearly labelled with seed variety or cultivar, harvest date and origin.
Be open pollinated (non hybrid)
No older than 2 years

Campbell River Seedy Saturday

Seedy Saturday will host a seed swap, plant sale, demonstrations, a Li’l Sprouts Kids’ corner, a concession and vendors from all over Vancouver Island.

A few of the vendors….Tree Eater Nursery from Denman Island who sell an amazing and unique variety of fruit, nut and berry trees. Salt Spring Seeds offer hundreds of varieties of open pollinated, untreated non genetically-modified seeds. Backyard Botanicals supply locally grown herbs, vegetables and flowers. This is going to be an exciting event!”

The event takes place from 9am a.m. to 12 p.m. and admission is free. There are demonstrations every 30 minutes. A
