Found in Fernwood at 1216 North Park St., “It’s an oasis in the middle of the city,” reads the centre’s website. “Throughout spring and summer the site is alive with hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.” Visitors can tour the garden Wednesday to Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, or can schedule a guided Sustainable Systems Site tour.

The Compost Education Centre’s commitment to education shows through the variety of workshops they host. “Our environmentally focused and interactive programs serve children and youth in elementary, middle and high schools, preschools, clubs and summer groups,” reads the CEC website. They also offer adult-oriented workshops. Coming up next is a Composting Basics workshop on September 8–offered for free!
